Digital Records

Modern dental record keeping has improved significantly over time due to advancements in technology and improved regulations. Patient records no longer consist of paper forms and handwritten notes. Digital records are more secure and include digital images and staff notes after each procedure, which help support better point-of-care decision making by the patient and dentist. Sharing data with other doctors is more accessible through digital records,  as well as more transparent communication with insurance providers.

Panoramic X-Rays

It is essential for Dr. Michel to be able to clearly examine your teeth and gums to make an accurate diagnosis of your oral health. Visual oral examinations allow your dentist to identify many issues, but do not let him to see inside your tooth or gum tissue. Panoramic digital x-rays are vital in being able to see beyond the surface of your mouth so that your dentist can determine if there are any oral problems. 

Panoramic x-rays also emit considerably less radiation than traditional x-rays by as much as 80%, making it safer for our patients. 

Panoramic x-rays take incredibly detailed, two-dimensional images of your teeth, upper and lower jaws, and gum tissue. Unlike traditional x-rays, no uncomfortable films are placed in your mouth. Instead, panoramic x-rays can be taken outside of the mouth and provide better quality imaging. 

Laser Dentistry

Dental lasers help your dentist perform surgery with more precision with less pain and discomfort to the patient. Lasers reduce bleeding and swelling and have faster healing times than traditional surgical methods. Some common uses for lasers include:

  • Tooth decay—Lasers can remove tooth decay and can eliminate any infection  
  • Gum disease—Lasers are very effective in treating gum disease by pinpointing any damaged tissue and preserving healthy tissue. Lasers are also useful in reshaping gums and removing any bacteria during root canal treatments.
  • Biopsy— Lasers can remove tissue for examination for cancer. Lasers can also eliminate lesions around the mouth and can help with canker sores. 
  • Teeth whitening—Your dentist can use lasers to accelerate in-office teeth whitening treatments by using the heat from the laser to help activate the bleaching solution.

Intraoral Camera

At Raynald Michel DDS, we believe in providing our patients with all the tools they need to make informed decisions about their dental health. We encourage our patients to take an active role in their oral hygiene, which makes intraoral cameras a beneficial technology for sharing important dental information with our patients.

The intraoral camera is a small camera embedded in a wand that allows our patients to see what Dr. Michel sees as he examines your teeth and gums. The images from the camera transmit to a chairside monitor that the patient can view in comfort. Everything your dentist does is displayed on the monitor, allowing you to see any oral issues or tooth damage and better understand how to fix any dental problems.

Digital X-Rays

Modern digital x-rays have several patient benefits, including:

  • Less radiation—Digital x-rays expose patients to less radiation compared to traditional x-rays
  • Immediacy—Traditional x-rays could take 10 minutes to develop whereas digital x-rays are immediate, allowing us to keep your dental examinations quick and efficient
  • Accuracy—Digital x-rays are more precise than traditional methods and will enable the dentist to diagnose any issues. Dr. Michel can zoom in or enhance the image for accurate diagnosing. 
  • Digital—Any digital x-rays can be securely stored in your digital records and can be shared with other dentists or insurance companies
  • Diagnostic—Digital x-rays are crucial in detecting any oral complications, including gum disease, tooth decay, bone and root health, cysts, dental infection, and more; and they allow Dr. Michel to place dental implants accurately.
  • Environmental—Traditional x-rays require chemicals and solutions to process the dental image which digital x-rays do not need, making them an environmentally friendly process.

Rotary Endodontics

Root canal treatment, or endodontic therapy, is recommended when the pulp of the tooth becomes infected. If left untreated, the infection can cause significant pain, and the tooth can become abscessed. In order to treat the infection, Dr. Michel removes the pulp and the tooth is disinfected, filled and sealed. A dental crown is placed over the tooth to help protect and preserve it. 

To remove the infected pulp, Dr. Michel uses rotary endodontic technology that allows for a more comfortable experience for the patient. 

Rotary endodontics are electrical dental instruments topped with a nickel-titanium alloy tip and are more flexible than traditional manual files. The electric motor allows the dentist to perform the root canal procedure faster than with conventional files, while the flexibility makes the process much more efficient. 

Digital Sensors

Digital sensors produce instant computer-generated radiographic images which are highly accurate and crucial for diagnostic purposes. Because of their digital nature, our patients can enjoy stress-free oral examinations that are quick, accurate, and produce less radiation than traditional means. Digital images can be stored in the patients’ digital records and can be shared with other dentists. Environmentally, digital sensors eliminate the use of chemicals and solutions that may have environmental impacts. Dr. Michel is able to immediately diagnose any oral health issues with high accuracy through the use of digital sensors.
