Dental emergencies can be painful reminders that things can happen unexpectedly. The critical thing to remember is not to panic, your emergency dentist in  Fort Lauderdale, FL is here to determine your best course of action. We keep open spots in our schedule for patients who need immediate treatment. Our experienced staff at Raynald Michel DDS understand how disorienting a dental emergency can be.

Determining How Urgent Your Dental Emergency Is

Sometimes it's easy to determine that you need to call Dr. Raynald Michel immediately. Severe tooth pain that isn't going away, an injury to your mouth from an accident, a knocked-out tooth, or broken tooth are all examples that need urgent treatment.

Some oral health situations can wait until the next day if you don't want to come in. We always encourage our patients to schedule an appointment if they feel uncomfortable or want an immediate assessment.

Some common dental emergencies we see include:

  • Lost filling or dental crown
  • Cracked or chipped tooth
  • Debris painfully stuck in between teeth
  • Tooth pain
  • Swollen or bleeding gums
  • Knocked out tooth

Prevention Is Your Best Defense

While you cannot avoid all dental emergencies, many are preventable. We engage our patients in continuing oral health education so everyone can do their part in preventing a painful circumstance. Daily brushing and flossing helps you avoid tooth decay, gum disease, infection, and other dental problems. The best thing you can do is to come to see us regularly so we can examine your teeth and gums to stop issues in the early stages. A small cavity can quickly become infected if we don't catch it—and develop into a toothache and the need for root canal treatment.

Call Dr. Raynald Michel and his knowledgable dental staff today if you are experiencing tooth pain or anything abnormal in your dental health. If you're not experiencing a dental emergency, give your general dentist a call so we can keep emergencies at bay.
